Learner Outcomes
The aim of the training is that afterwards the delegate will better understand the risks of working with chemicals, understand their responsibilities and be less likely to have an accident that causes injury to themselves or to a workmate. After the training the delegate will be able to:
List their responsibilities under COSHH
List PPE that may be required to be worn
Identify the classification of a chemical from the label
List the first aid procedures for chemical accidents
List the procedure for handling a spillage
List the good practices for storage, handling and dispense of chemicals
Course Content
The course has been created by senior teams that have completed all modules of Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTLLS).
The course covers:
The responsibilities for safety including the requirements under COSHH.
The system of classification of chemicals and how the label information can be interpreted.
What to do if an accident occurs; covering first aid and spillage advice.
Good practice for the storage, handling and dispense of chemicals.
Course Arrangements
This is taken by an individual learner at work or at home in a suitable environment that is not distracting to the delegate.
For Holchem customers this is available free of charge to operatives / colleagues who routinely use the full range of cleaning products on site; i.e. Cleaning Operatives.
For non Holchem customers this available at £25 per licence.
The learner is continuously assessed, by questioning, during the course.
Upon successful completion of the course a Personal Certificate is awarded.
Delegates
An understanding of spoken and written English is required.
